This was a golden blonde-furred monkey whom Baba and the women mandali met in a pet store in Calcutta. The monkey was drawn to Baba and once Baba walked away from his cage he began to scream wildly. Mehera felt for the monkey and when Baba returned to his cage he calmed down. Baba was so compassionate that he bought the monkey. The monkey was named Jumpu because of its nervous nature. But Jumpu was also extraordinarily loving and sweet and he loved to cuddle and sit on your lap. Kitty was
especially fond of Jumpu and would feed him but as soon as she would leave, Jumpu would cry out for more love.
As with all Baba's pets, Baba was the first to feed Lucky. You can imagine how cute Lucky was as he sat on Baba's knee, both cheeks bulging out, filled with banana. Norina had expressed a desire for a pet monkey and when one was given to Baba, he had Norina look after it. Lucky felt very comfortable sitting in Baba's palm, but he was a very mischievous monkey. Once Lucky became accustomed to being at Meherabad, he became bold. One time Lucky started throwing Norina's things out the window
and then got hold of a tube of toothpaste, which he squeezed and bit until there was toothpaste everywhere!
