Meher Baba From Boyhood to Godhood is a biography of Meher Baba chronicling from the beginning, in intimate detail from original sources, the entire progression from Merwan (Meher Baba’s birth name) to Meher Baba, when He is recognized by thousands as God in human form and begins His Avataric mission in 1922.
Included in this period is Merwan’s birth, His meeting with Perfect Masters Hazrat Babajan, Sai Baba and Upasni Maharaj, His spiritual awakening, the gathering of His close companions and memoirs of Mehera, Meher Baba’s Chief Woman Disciple. These are the days before Meher Baba’s life of silence began, when He was singing, writing poetry and forming into the Avatar of our Age.
Naosherwan Anzar, author of Meher Baba’s biography The Beloved, journeyed to Iran in 1976 to follow Meher Baba’s father’s footsteps which led him to Poona, India where Meher Baba was born. In Poona (now Pune), Anzar walked the lanes to record and photograph the life and times of Merwan as a young man. He acquired original diaries and memoirs of Merwan’s boyhood companions and interviewed His brothers and sister and bowed down at the threshold of Manzil-e-Meem in Bombay from where Meher Baba launched His Avataric Mission.
These first-hand accounts of Merwan’s life, along with many beautifully produced photographs create a stunning glimpse into the formative years of Meher Baba’s life and Advent.
