Translated and Introduced by John Beevers.
De Caussade was a Jesuit priest in 18th century France, and he didn't actually write this book. It was edited long after his death into its present form from letters he wrote to members of the Visitation nuns and from notes they took during his talks. In his introduction to this edition John Beevers says, “Caussade's passion was both rational and emotional: it was the adoration of God. The more one studies him, the more difficult it becomes to imagine a single moment of his life when he was not loving God.”
This is a work that appeals to readers of any religious background, focusing as it does on the necessity of open-hearted acceptance of God's will.
